Romans 1:16 (NLT)
“For I am not ashamed of this good news about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes – Jews first and also Gentiles.”
When we evangelize the world around us with the Good News of the Gospel, this is our fifth purpose.
Acts 1:8 (NIV)
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem , and in all Judea and Samaria , and to the ends of the earth."
“Jerusalem” = The people closest to me.
“Judea ” / “Samaria”= People near but different from me.
“Ends of the earth” = Everybody else.
Notice exactly how Jesus says this. He doesn't say you will be my defense attorney. He doesn't say you will be my prosecutor. He doesn't say you will be my salesman. You don't sell God or defend him. All God asks is that you be His witness. What is a witness? A witness is someone who tells exactly what they know. I once was lost but now I'm found. Because of Jesus' death on the cross my sins are all erased. I have purpose and unspeakable joy. No other person has your exact witness, because he saved you in unique way. |
