Grace History with Chayahuita Indians
There are 15,000 to 20,000 Chayahuita Indians in the Amazon jungle of Peru. Approximately 1/3 of the tribe has been introduced to our loving God. Many of them rely on witch doctors to cure them and to provide guidance. They live in extreme poverty, working the land for food. Their huts consist of one or two rooms with dirt floors, a few hammocks, maybe one shelf and a fire pit for cooking. The indigenous people have limited education and are one generation removed from bond-servant workers or slavery.
