MORE ABOUT THE HIMALAYAN REGION

Local people come down from the Northern regions

into the warmer hilly region during the three or so coldest months of winter.  They ride down on their ponies and bring herbs and such that they sell in the hill villages. 

While they are away from their homes, the children often have nothing to do but go with their parents or play unattended.  We began a small outreach to the local people through a daycare for the children.  Our hope is that this will impact not only the children, but that it will open up doors with their parents and will enable some brothers and sisters to go up to their areas with some relationships already established. We are partnering with one woman and her husband in that area who also want to reach these people.  They are doing the daycare at an orphanage/school that they run.  

Our children had a bunch of toys that they were not playing with anymore. The children were elated to get the toys to play with. Before, all they had to play with were two old tires (one from a car and one from a motorcycle.)

Most of the kids only have the clothes that they were wearing. We bought them some fleece jackets for the cold weather months.

We had a great time with the kids
and were encouraged by their excitement
about us and the love they are getting.

in their hearts and in the hearts
of their parents.
